First Lutheran Church is a community of Christians inspired and equipped to serve the needs of our neighbors, especially in leading them, through a variety of means, to a relationship with Jesus Christ. We have the staffing and resources to provide uplifting and contagious ministries primarily to children, youth and young adults, as well as to the general membership and friends of our congregation. With a continuing desire to be “First-For-Others,” specific small groups exhibit a ministry that intentionally invites neighbors to join them to meet in homes throughout not only greater Placerville area, but also in more remote locations that do not have a Lutheran presence. These groups uniquely meet to develop multi-facetted discipleship skills, learn friendship-based care-giving methods, enhance family values through intentional Bible study, and offer satellite sites for worship and simulcast learning. New ministries are developing that address a growing ethnic diversity. Through educational techniques, families connected to our preschool, church and community are learning parenting, marriage, and financial skills. New ministries and groups are strongly encouraged as the Holy Spirit enables individuals to maximize their gifts for the common good. And, as a congregation exhibiting unity in its mission, conflict at all levels is managed in a Christ-centered environment that leads to reconciliation and collaboration. Whenever possible, individuals and groups are assisting with resources of time, talents and treasures to support the social and community ministries currently in progress and others as they are identified. As members of the Church around the world, each individual is encouraged to care not only for the “household of faith,” but also for those in needs locally, nationally, and internationally.
